Description[edit | edit source]

In Hyper Duel two players play against each other, as the name already implies, with spaceships, whose steering is similar to the one in Asteroids (unfortunately, a computer opponent is not available). Every ship has a shield and a laser canon. The goal is to destroy the shield of the opposing spaceship by shooting, for this 5 hits are necessary. If the spaceships touch each other, this will be without any consequences. If you succeed you get one point. Whoever has reached 9 points (can be set) first, wins.

Design[edit | edit source]

... an image from the game.

The game takes place in a single screen. The spaceships are unicoloured sprites. In the upper part the shield strength is displayed and in the lower part is the points display for the players. Controls are simple and almost a bit too exact. In the background plays appropriate SID music, which can also get a bit on your nerves after a while.

Hints[edit | edit source]

... the title screen

Before the game starts you can alter the necessary points to win and the game speed of the spaceships in the title screen.

Controls

in the title screen
  • Joystick left / Joystick right : game fast/slow
  • Joystick forwards / Joystick backwards : set points to win 1-9
in the game
  • Joystick left : turn spaceship left
  • Joystick right : turn spaceship right
  • press fire button : fire
  • Move joystick in flying direction: higher speed of the spaceship
  • The rebound behaviour of the spaceship at the border of the screen corresponds to a one of a billard ball

Solution[edit | edit source]

Just always try to stay calm and not to beat your opponent, he could beat back...

Cheats[edit | edit source]

Cheats for this game are unknown and don't really make sense.

Reviews[edit | edit source]

Sledgie: "Rather simply made duel game. It is well made for a quick game for two. The music from Richard Bayliss is very good. Altogether the game gets 7 out of 10 points from me".
