arm2iec is a hardware mass storage device using an SD/MMC card and interfacing with the IEC bus. It is based on an ARM microcontroller. The most prominent use of arm2iec is emulation/replacement of a Commodore-1541 disk drive for a C64. Hardware and the microcontroller's sd2iec firmware is available as open source (GPL).
- arm2iec hardware supports the DolphinDOS parallel cable (as does the sd2iec firmware in general, but not the SD2IEC hardware)
- Some operations are faster than on AVR-based designs (noticeable in special situations only though)
