Front Page Suggestions[edit source]
Many thanks to Jodigi for his work updating the front page. Here are some suggestions:
1. The survey is now out of date. How about a new survey:
Which aspect of the Commodore 64 do you enjoy the most?
- Classic Games
- SID Music & Sound Design
- Demoscene & Graphics Creativity
- Programming & Learning BASIC
- Retro Memories
Also, change the German word Stimmen for the front page surveys to the English word Vote(s) - It needs to be as I've written, i.e. Vote(s) - Doing so might actually encourage people to vote.
2. Alter the format for Recent Changes to the way it is done in other wikis, i.e. to show the last 50, and be able to click on the previous 50, 100 etc. This will make it much easier to see what's changed for people coming back after a few months.
3. The section "Updates up to April 2025" is confusing. That it refers to the German version of the wiki should be very much clearer. At the moment it seems to say that the pages are on the English version (the link to the German version isn't very clear). Also, it refers to "this homepage", which is also very confusing. If you mean the German version of the wiki then it needs to clearly say so.
Hope this helps and you don't mind the suggestions. WikiWonk (talk) 08:33, 14 July 2025 (CEST)
Hi WikiWonk,
A great thank you for your ideas and for your overwork of the news in our main page. I haven't in the first half year of 2025 enought time, because I was several times longer ill, and can't refresh or change something in our C64-Wiki. projects.
- I know, we must start a new survey, now I have done this. For change in the votes for the English C64-Wiki.com, I must ask our main administrator, if we can change easily the "Stimmen" into "Vote(s)" for the C64-Wiki.com. Sorry, that takes some time...
- This function is in the C64 Wiki in the menu und "Recent Changes". The main page and the portales will be updated only manually and also in the smaller links in the boxes e.g. "All new articles".
This method has also an advantage, that not all articles are listening, which have a "Stub1" or "AtWork"-status, and our portal editor can listen the best and extensive articles.
We know, it is a great problem, if not enough adminstrators or users have enough time to update this pages weekly or monthly.
In the beginning the starters was against too much automatic routines and without some standards of the famous Wikipedia&Co, the starters want given this project a own unique profile. - The link to this homepage is correct. The user can be decide by clicking on the right flag, if he want to see the German or th English version of this homepage. The name of this project homepage is "C64games.de" in both languages, but it isn't a project of the C64-Wiki. This is a partnership, that we use since the start of our C64-Wiki projects (for us to have some more news). In the beginning of C64Games.de this project exists only in German language.
I hope, my answer are clear enough and we hope, that you also work with us together in the future to make this C64-Wiki.com better. :) --Jodigi (talk) 17:32, 14 July 2025 (CEST)
