64 Tape Computing

The cassette magazine 64 Tape Computing was published bimonthly in the years 1984 (first issue: April 1984) to 1985 (last issue: January 1986) by the British publisher Argus Press. It costs 3.99 British pounds and carried the interesting subtitle "A new independent On-Screen Magazine for the users of all Commodore 64's" in the early days.

It consisted of a cassette or datasette with software like games, applications and tools (ultilities) for the C64 and a designed cover - similar in basic design to the disk magazine Magic Disk 64.

Some editorial texts like "Cover & Contents, News 'n' View" and reviews were also included on the cassette.

Note: For the home computer systems VC20, Amstrad, Spectrum and Electron, such cassette magazines were also published by the same publisher:

  • VICtape Computing
  • CPC 464 Computing
  • Spectrum Computing
  • Electron Computing

Note: Since gamebase64.com also contains Spanish versions of the games, it is obvious that such a magazine (at least with a first edition!) has also been distributed under license by a publisher in Spain!
