Scott Adams
Scott Adams is a famous game developer. With his company Adventure International, he produced several commercial text adventures for home computers from the late 1970s onwards.
He is thus regarded as the pioneer of adventure games.
Adams began his professional career in 1972 at the Florida Institute of Technology. There he quickly rose to become a senior programmer.[1] In 1975 he took up a position at the Radio Corporation of America. He also studied computer science. After graduating, he began working in a systems house in Florida, and after his marriage he moved for family reasons and joined the telecommunications equipment supplier Stromberg-Carlson. This is also where his career as a games programmer began.
At his company, he was made aware of the computer game ‘’Adventure‘’ from 1976. The programme fascinated him so much that he subsequently developed a similar game as a private project on a Tandy TRS-80 Model 1. Together with his wife Alexis, he later founded Adventure International. The couple's company soon became known as a developer and publisher of adventure games. Initially, Scott advertised in computer magazines to sell his games. By 1983, Adventure International already had 40 employees and the company was based in Florida.
From the 1980s, Adams also worked as a programmer for a software company in Wisconsin. He still develops computer games today.
