CeBIT was a German IT technology fair held in Hannover, which was staged annually in spring (February or March). It originated as a part of the larger Hanover Fair before becoming its own event in 1986. At its peak during the dot-com boom it attracted 850,000 visitors, but numbers thereafter declined and the final CeBIT took place in 2018.
CeBIT-branded trade shows took place worldwide starting in 1999, with events held in:
- Internet +, powered by CeBIT (formerly CeBIT Asia), in Shanghai, China
- CeBIT in Sydney, Australia
- CeBIT Eurasia Bilişim, in Istanbul, Turkey
- CeBIT America/USA in New York City, United States.
- CeBIT India, in Bangalore, India
- BITS Mexico, powered by CeBIT, in Mexico City.
- CeBIT ASEAN Thailand, in Bangkok, Thailand.
Commodore was a regular exhibitor at CeBIT in the late 1980s and early 1990s. They used it to showcase the Amiga line (especially the Amiga 2000, 3000, and later 4000) to the European market.
