The company Commodore USA (2010-2012) started to produce modern computer systems under the famous brands Commodore and Amiga and similar old design. Under a special keyboard design, looks like the old Commodore home computer systems works a modern PC with a modiefed Linux version of Ubuntu.


History[edit | edit source]

  • 2010: Commodore USA was founded in Florida. The company licensed the Commodore brand from Commodore Licensing BV on 25th August 2010 and the Amiga brand from Amiga, Inc. on 31th August 2010. Several prototypes was introduced, including a remake of its old C64 with modern features.
  • 2011: Commodore USA plans on releasing their first computer in May followed by several more models.
  • 2012: On 8th December the founder Barry S. Altman died and Commodore USA closed.

The product line was:

  • Commodore 64x: A modern PC with the exact C64-style.
  • VIC: Other keyboard computers with orginal Commodore function keys under the label VIC slim and VIC pro.
  • Amiga: It was only selled the Amiga Mini. The Amiga Mio wasn't build.
  • Phoenix: It's a keyboard computer with style of a C64.
  • Commodore OS: (full name Commodore Vision OS) The OS for the computer systems of Commodore USA based on Linux versions of Debian and Linux Mint with Gnome 2. First beta version appeared on 11th November 2011.
