I'm considering the following additional fields... ROM (for ROM size) 16kb in the case of the 1541... physical dimensions... height / width / depth... I'm open to suggestions.

Looks good to me. Please be aware that this template should be used for several types of Data Storage Devices - maybe also the newer hardware - so do not add too many specific details. The physical dimensions could be interesting. --Camailleon (talk) 19:35, 10 March 2016 (CET)
This template looks very nice, but carefully by editing our old templates. We needn't to loose any old informations, if this infos isn't wrong.
I want to see the hardware type also in the box or is generally the drive a disk drive? That is a very important notice!
A little probleme here is, that we would all people inform about our old C64 hard- and software, etc. - also unkown beginners, known people and also the all-known experts... That is the challenge here for the authors.
The sense of the box should be to give the readers a fast and compact overview about this hard- or software of the article in one screen (the reader shouldn't srcolling up and down for the infos of this box - and I use a normal high pixels graphic resoultion by a 1366*768 pixels; older computer systems use lower resolustions). The reader can found (read) others not so important features or all technicals details in the article. This box has got the maximale size and a little bit more.
Please, can you merge the OS and the OS version into on line to make this template box a little bit smaller? And try to design a unbroken line for each noticeable detail. On the template side look this template design ok, but in the article VIC-1541 is a line broken.
General: I have see some easy mistakes and edit it.
We use (in both C64-Wikis) for inch here ", also the number and the units are written with a space like "5 kByte", a Byte is shorted international as B (bit is shorted b). To avoid inexactness, we use under C64-Wiki.de also kByte or kBit (sometimes wrong, but a little bit acceptable is also KByte or KBit, because older books and magazines use this units. If is used in other countries and/or old medias other units, please inform us about that.
Please, Before you adding this box to all the other floppy disk drive articles, wait one or two weeks for other opions or suggestions of other hardware authors here. --Jodigi (talk) 01:57, 11 March 2016 (CET)

Okay, I have merged the firmware information and firmware version into a single field, that makes sense. I experimented with adding physical dimensions but that seemed like information overload. I have created more example usages of this template including the SD2IEC and the CMD RAMLink. I have cleaned up some of the fields to keep the names short. I'm trying to keep the template as flexible as possible for both old hardware (floppy drives) and new hardware (flash devices) and future devices. Feedback welcome.
