The first, easiest and most famous video or computer game was Pong. It is a table tennis simulation for two players. Developer of this computer game was the American Ralph H. Baer in 1968. First, this was only a mechanical game. After that an electrical version was developed. Finally, a digital version, which was programmed on a chip, appeared in 1972.

The first company, who presented this video game, was Atari in 1972. At the end of the 70's appeared the first pong version for the video consoles and home computers. In 1976 over 500 arcade and video gaming machines from 300 companies existed. This was the start of an arcade gaming machine hype in North America. In 1977 a lot of software versions for the first home computer Apple II were sold. Also many pong software versions were programmed for the C64.
